now I'm disappointed to hear about the tilting problem. The SAA4229 comes the closest, though it doesn't exactly rotate (except for the total switch between portrait and landscape mode). Oddly enough, I've looked at a lot on the internet and found nothing that: extends at least 36', rotates, tilts, moves up and down, sideways, and can be pushed back flat to the wall. I too am searching, and will report on what I find. So now I have to think how to attach the arm to the wall with some kind of inset to make it vertical. Now, if I pan the monitor to face me, it will be at an angle (not perfectly horizontal) - that would be fine, if one could rotate the monitor slightly to make it horizontal, but it doesn't look like you can do that with the SAA4229 (except rotate it totally to a portrait mode). My wall is not perfectly vertical, so the arm will be over my desk at a slight droop. I want to attach the arm to the wall, stretch it out about 36' or so, so it is above my desk, then pan the screen 90 degrees so it faces me as I sit at my desk, then pan 90 degrees in the other direction to face the couch, when I'm sitting on the couch to watch a movie. My situation is as follows: To the right of my desk is a wall. It all depends on how you will use the arm. Can you elaborate a bit more? I suspect that even if you have an Apple service shop do it, they will mention that Apple will no longer keep it in warranty. There's probably no way to find out when some minor change like that was actually included, but sometime in early 2013, I guess.)Īnyway, sounds like a messy proposition to change out the mount. You would have to determine when yours was manufactured, and know where yours is in the production run. (Maybe it also means that, for a few months, the Late 2012 iMac 27-inch DID have the release to remove the stand from the outside. And, (just a guess) that the company that makes the adapter isn't just guessing. It may be that Apple made a production change in all iMacs manufactured after that time, to allow for the VESA mounts. The 21.5-inch had a model added in March 2013, which may have also allowed for the VESA model, which is also at the time that Apple started selling the special VESA mount models.
